What's in a Name?
When our organization was originally founded, we had no idea how quickly we would grow or how incredible this journey would be. We started out as Shelby's Sweets, a home-run bakery where our friends with disabilities could make money selling cupcakes and peppermint bark. However, as we saw how much need there was in the community, we decided to expand our mission to offer vocational training to people with disabilities in San Antonio, with baking as a fundraising component. We know that we can't employ everyone--but we can offer inclusive programming to help our community members gain valuable job and life skills. Inclusion is Sweet was born in May 2019 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. We originally had a DBA as Shelby's Sweets, but as we've grown, we have used our official name because it truly reflects our impact on the community.
